20 MW / 80 MWh Pomona Battery Storage Project
< Back to projects

Client: AltaGas
Location: California

Southern California Edison selected AltaGas to build, own and operate a 20 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) at AltaGas’s Pomona natural gas-fired peaking power plant in the east Los Angeles Basin. SCE will purchase energy from the project, one of the largest battery energy storage systems in the nation, under a 10-year power purchase agreement, integrating more renewable energy into its system and helping its customers avoid costly outages. ARB was the general contractor on the project, and POWER provided detailed design on a fast-track schedule, helping AltaGas meet the energization date required by the PPA.
